About The Position

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to provide specialized support for solar and battery storage systems across various field locations. In this role, you will travel weekly to manage daily work requests, perform equipment checks, and execute maintenance tasks with minimal oversight in a dynamic and scrappy startup environment. This position requires strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, attention to quality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. You will be responsible for keeping systems running, diagnosing and resolving on-site issues, and working closely with operations and engineering teams to drive issues to resolution.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair, preferably in solar or battery storage systems.
  • Solid background in electrical systems and mechanical maintenance
  • Proficiency with tools, meters, and equipment required for field service work
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing required due to frequent travel between field locations
  • Essential physical requirements include climbing, standing, stooping, and using specialized tools.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend, lift, and walk up and down stairs carrying weight.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety gloves, helmets, and eyewear, or additional PPE when required
  • Frequent travel required, including weekly trips to field locations.
  • Work in outdoor environments, including exposure to inclement weather, hazardous materials, loud noise, or extreme heat/cold.
  • Required to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair solar and battery storage systems, including electrical and mechanical components
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on solar panels, inverters, and battery storage units
  • Operate diagnostic tools and specialized equipment for installation, repair, and maintenance activities
  • Manage field-based projects and oversee work performed by contractors and third-party vendors
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard work instructions (SWIs) for field service activities
  • Complete daily task lists and respond to incoming field service requests
  • Address general electro-mechanical issues related to solar and battery systems
  • Work cross-functionally with operations and engineering teams to support growth and continuous improvement initiatives
