About The Position

The Field Service Technician - Marine & Ports at ABB is responsible for providing onsite support for troubleshooting and maintaining Optical Character Recognition systems. This role requires a deep understanding of client installations, technical architecture, and system interfaces. The technician will perform maintenance, document tasks, and ensure quality customer support while contributing to the Process Automation Marine & Ports division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience; OR an Associate's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 1 year of professional work experience.
  • Experience in Electrical Installation, Electronics, Instrumentation, Service and Maintenance, Project Management Installation and Commissioning.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs to reach equipment and lift up to 40lbs, with heights up to 200 feet.
  • Commitment to excellence, effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, technical orientation, analytical skills, customer orientation, and a professional attitude.
  • Valid legal driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Optical Character Recognition systems.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar ticketing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite support to troubleshoot system hardware, software, and network incidents when remote resolution is unsuccessful.
  • Perform quarterly onsite maintenance and cleaning of equipment, documenting all tasks in the ticketing system (Salesforce).
  • Provide quality customer support in response to system alerts, customer phone calls, and emails.
  • Monitor automated tracking and alert systems, updating the trouble ticketing system as necessary.
  • Timely escalation of high-priority network/infrastructure problems and work with next-level support toward resolution.
  • Provide backup support for San Diego CSC to maintain full support coverage.
  • Maintain accurate logs/inventory of all software and hardware.
  • Effectively communicate customer issues and concerns to internal staff members.
  • Maintain working knowledge of products and/or services.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence as needed.
