The Field Service Technician I is responsible for the delivery of high-quality customer service, performing preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration/verification of Hach devices located at our customer sites. The customer base for this role is anticipated to be a combination of municipal (i.e., drinking and wastewater treatment facilities) and industrial (i.e., power plants and food and beverage plants). This position is part of the North America Field Service Team, located in Kansas City, KS (or within 1-hour radius) and will be remote. In this role, you will:

Requirements

  • HS Diploma required; Associates/technical degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is a must - experience with preventative maintenance and technical diagnostics/repair is helpful but not required.
  • 2 or more years of field service experience and/or customer-facing roles preferred.
  • This position requires occasional rental of vehicles or booking of hotel rooms for business travel. A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to rent a car and/ or hotel rooms under applicable state law are required.
  • This position will be primarily based in Kansas City, KS with potential assignments within the Gulf Coast or the greater Southern region as business needs arise.
  • This position requires daily travel to customer sites. Overnight stays may occur occasionally as needed, with company-paid travel, accommodations, and meals provided. Occasional travel to other states within the region is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration/verification of instrumentation using established company standard work.
  • Promotes a positive customer experience and serves as on-site customer contact for technical and service-related problems.
  • Work in a wide variety of municipal and industrial settings, including but not limited to drinking water & wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, chemical manufacturing plants, food & beverage processing facilities, etc....Some applications may involve instrument servicing in NEC hazardous locations (Class I Division 2)
  • Submits prompt, accurate service reports that affect billing, inventory, instrument history, and instrument failure.
  • Follows safe work practices according to company policy.
  • Executes administrative activities in support of service visits.
  • Daily travel to customer sites. This role will be based in the Kansas City, KS area and supports our customers throughout the territory. Company-paid travel, accommodations, and meals are provided for overnight stays. You can expect to have 1 or 2 overnight stays per week.
