Summary/Objective Under limited supervision, the service technician - mechanic position performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of logging machines - specifically Harvester Heads - at the customers job sites; performs related work as assigned. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Installation of loose heads onto logging machines. Performs troubleshooting, inspections and preventive maintenance of installed heads. Prepares and maintains records and reports for billing purposes.

Requirements

  • Technical Capacity.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • Mechanical or Operator background with logging equipment.
  • Knowledge of a variety of different track/rubber carriers.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a CDL license.
  • Two-year degree in heavy equipment technician program or three years of experience and/or training in heavy equipment repair and maintenance shop or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Speak English fluently.

Nice To Haves

  • Forestry experience helpful.
  • Hydraulics and electrical components
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Experience with acetylene and electric arc welding.
