About The Position

Under limited supervision, the service technician - mechanic position performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of logging machines - specifically Harvester Heads - at the customers job sites; performs related work as assigned.

Requirements

• Technical Capacity.
• Problem Solving/Analysis.
• Mechanical or Operator background with logging equipment.
• Knowledge of a variety of different track/rubber carriers.
• Must have or be able to obtain a CDL license.
• Two-year degree in heavy equipment technician program or three years of experience and/or training in heavy equipment repair and maintenance shop or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
• Speak English fluently.

Nice To Haves

• Forestry experience helpful.
• Hydraulics and electrical components
• Ability to read schematics
• Experience with acetylene and electric arc welding.

Responsibilities

• Installation of loose heads onto logging machines.
• Performs troubleshooting, inspections and preventive maintenance of installed heads.
• Prepares and maintains records and reports for billing purposes.
