About The Position

Install and repair broadband communications system in compliance with company technical standards from consumer service to the exterior fiber terminal. Duties & Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: As an FTTH Installer, you will install, terminate, and test Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks in residential and business locations. Work with customers to ensure a smooth installation process, answer questions, and educate them about the benefits of FTTH. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to FTTH installations. Adhere to all safety and quality standards. Keep accurate and detailed records of all installations and maintenance activities. Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with new FTTH technologies and best practices. Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades and change-of-service, for phone, internet or video services Install and relocate outlets Install interior and exterior wiring Connect peripheral equipment Train customers on proper use of equipment Assure proper signal levels and picture quality Identify causes of picture and/or signal degradation Troubleshoot from consumer device to tap Troubleshoot, repair and replace components from tap to consumer device Assure system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestals Understand/apply FCC and NESC technical standards Identify and report all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA and WOW standards) Performs network troubleshooting including ping test, trace routes and speed test. Requirements

  • Experience in FTTH installation and terminations.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic cable splicing and testing.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours if needed.
  • Capable of carrying a 32' ladder.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent
  • MS Suite, Internet software, E-mail, basic understanding of Google Suite
  • Regularly required to talk and hear
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus, ability to adjust focus and to see colors
  • Must be able to meet the physical limit requirements of personal protective equipment, aerial lift equipment, ladders and/or gaffs that may be used in this position
  • Ability to work while standing most of the time
  • Ability to walk or work over all types of terrain, in all types of weather
  • Ability to carry tools and equipment including ladders and tool belts
  • Ability to work in tight spaces while bending, twisting and reaching
  • Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder (approx. 32’)
  • Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
  • Ability to perform work in elevated places (i.e., roofs and utility poles)
  • Ability to use drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers and other hand tools
  • Ability to move, crawl, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, push, and grasp
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Physically able to operate computer equipment and test equipment
  • Ability to work in environments that may have dust, dirt, noise, reptiles and insects and cleaning solutions
  • Ability to work safely near power lines and electrical equipment
  • Ability to drive Company vehicles in a safe manner

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of experience in the broadband communication field is preferred.
