About The Position

As an FTTH Installer, you will install, terminate, and test Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks in residential and business locations. You will work with customers to ensure a smooth installation process, answer questions, and educate them about the benefits of FTTH. Your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving issues related to FTTH installations while adhering to all safety and quality standards. You will keep accurate and detailed records of all installations and maintenance activities, continuously learn and stay up-to-date with new FTTH technologies and best practices, and perform various service changes for phone, internet, or video services.

Requirements

  • Experience in FTTH installation and terminations.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic cable splicing and testing.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours if needed.
  • Capable of carrying a 32' ladder.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of experience in the broadband communication field is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: MS Suite, Internet software, E-mail, basic understanding of Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks.
  • Work with customers to ensure a smooth installation process.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to FTTH installations.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality standards.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of all installations and maintenance activities.
  • Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with new FTTH technologies and best practices.
  • Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades and change-of-service for phone, internet or video services.
  • Install and relocate outlets.
  • Install interior and exterior wiring.
  • Connect peripheral equipment.
  • Train customers on proper use of equipment.
  • Assure proper signal levels and picture quality.
  • Identify causes of picture and/or signal degradation.
  • Troubleshoot from consumer device to tap.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and replace components from tap to consumer device.
  • Assure system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestals.
  • Understand/apply FCC and NESC technical standards.
  • Identify and report all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA and WOW standards).
  • Perform network troubleshooting including ping test, trace routes and speed test.
