As a Field Service Technician at ControlTech Automation, you will be part of a team of expert engineers, technicians, and industry professionals. Your role will involve supporting customers with installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and modifications of automation equipment and control systems. You will work on-site at customer locations, ensuring that mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical control systems are functioning optimally. This position requires frequent travel, including overnight stays, based on project locations and customer needs.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical control systems at customer sites
  • Install, test, and commission new equipment, including supervising placement, verifying hookups, and performing system adjustments
  • Perform on-site upgrades and retrofits, including assembling kits, integrating components, debugging, and updating documentation
  • Train customer personnel on system operation, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance
  • Provide remote technical support and diagnostics from your home office as needed
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to communicate field updates, redline prints, and support accurate documentation
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships while representing CTA with professionalism
  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure project completion within quoted margins
  • Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and UL specifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall customer and company success
  • Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with 7+ years of hands-on experience in control systems or field service
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, including experience with PLCs
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, basic hand and power tools, and panel shop equipment
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support customer interactions and internal collaboration
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly by car and air
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., move frequently, and work extended hours on-site in industrial environments
