About The Position

The CETA-Accredited Field Service Specialist III is responsible for performing field certification, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of controlled environment equipment and facilities, including biological safety cabinets, laminar airflow workbenches, isolators, cleanrooms, mobile laboratories, and modular laboratory systems. This role ensures operational performance and regulatory compliance with applicable industry standards such as CETA Certification Application Guides, NSF/ANSI 49, USP <797>/<800>, ISO 14644, and IEST Recommended Practices while delivering high-quality customer service in healthcare, pharmaceutical, research, and laboratory environments. The position represents Germfree in customer-facing environments and requires strong technical expertise, professionalism, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently in the field.

Requirements

  • Current CETA certification (CNBT, CETA-SC, or equivalent) or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.

Nice To Haves

  • NSF 49 Accredited Field Certifier, NEBB cleanroom certification, or related credentials.
  • Experience with cleanrooms, HEPA filtration systems, mobile cleanrooms, pharmacy trailers, or isolator technologies.
  • OSHA safety training and laboratory maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards, including NSF 49, USP <797>/<800>, ISO 14644, and IEST practices.
  • Proficiency with anemometers, photometers, aerosol generators, particle counters, and pressure measurement devices.
  • Ability to interpret airflow schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications and service software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field certification of Class I, II, and III Biological Safety Cabinets per NSF/ANSI 49.
  • Certify laminar airflow workbenches, isolators, and cleanrooms in accordance with ISO 14644 and IEST guidance.
  • Conduct airflow velocity testing, HEPA/ULPA leak integrity testing, smoke visualization, particle counting, viable sampling support, differential pressure verification, and air change calculations.
  • Verify environmental compliance with USP <797> and <800> requirements.
  • Generate accurate certification reports, field data, and deficiency documentation while maintaining calibration traceability.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on Germfree equipment, mobile laboratories, and modular facilities.
  • Diagnose airflow, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and control system failures and perform minor repairs or replacements.
  • Coordinate complex repairs with engineering, vendors, or licensed specialists.
  • Requisition parts, manage service supplies, and support shipping logistics.
  • Decontaminate laboratories and prepare equipment for service or relocation.
  • Respond to customer maintenance and repair requests and determine corrective actions.
  • Prioritize workload based on maintenance schedules and service urgency.
  • Communicate certification results, service findings, and corrective action recommendations to customers.
  • Train clients on equipment operation, maintenance, and compliance expectations.
  • Travel extensively, including potential international assignments.
  • Prepare service reports, expense reports, and certification documentation.
  • Utilize laboratory and service software platforms, including RC Reporter and remote support tools.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal departments and customers.
  • Assist with cross-departmental projects and operational initiatives as needed.
