About The Position

The Field Service Technician (FSTS) will support projects during critical phases of the project lifecycle. This could include alignment support and field machining activities, and FARO support. The FSTS will be responsible for the organization, upkeep, and preparation of field machining equipment prior to going to site. The FSTS can mobilize to site for short duration activities as well as being present for the entire outage. The FSTS poses full authority at site over the critical activities as listed above as required for project success and can fill in as a site lead as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • FARO or similar experience is a plus but not required.
  • Journeyman machinist credentials a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for upkeep and preparation of field machining equipment in coordination with the Field Service Shop Manager
  • Responsible for the development of new field machining and inspection processes including identifying tools an equipment required. Drives innovation for the field team around machining and inspection.
  • The Field Service Technical Specialist can serve as primary contractual and managing contact with customers on-site during a Field Service project
  • Acts as the site superintendent and is responsible for hydro turbine and generator disassembly, field machining reassembly, alignment, and commissioning of the units
  • Responsible for managing assigned projects within budgeted cost and schedule requirements
  • Liaison between customers and the American Hydro Project Manager and Project Engineer
  • Supervises assigned Field Service Technicians and Foreman and associated craft labor at a multi-shift union or non-union hydro project if required during critical phases and possibly complete projects if needed at times.
  • Manages expense reporting and project expense estimating
  • Manages machining and inspection subcontractors.
  • Maintains and submits project documentation per the contract requirements
  • Coordinates Field Service shipping, activities, and schedules to meet Field Service and shop requirements
  • Satisfies Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements as it relates to these tasks
  • Hands on position when needed and will be utilized as a millwright as workload dictates
