About The Position

United Rentals Commercial and Utility Trucks is seeking a skilled and dedicated Road Service Utility Truck Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. If you are a seasoned heavy-duty mechanic with expertise in buckets, pulling and stringing, diesel, and hydraulic systems and have a commitment to safety and quality, we want to talk to you. You'll be responsible for ensuring our fleet of utility and service vehicles is maintained to the highest standards, playing a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel or truck mechanic, with hands-on experience on buckets and hydraulic systems.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with relevant endorsements is required or must be obtained.
  • Experience with a wide range of utility equipment is a plus, including cranes, pulling and stringing equipment and dielectric testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Will require some overnight travel to projects further away.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, bucket trucks, and specialty utility vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex issues within hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, tire service, and lubrication, to maximize fleet longevity and performance.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and technical manuals to identify malfunctions and determine the best course of action.
  • Perform welding and fabrication for equipment repair and modification as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely service records, repair logs, and documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with federal, state, and company safety standards and procedures.
  • Perform annual DOT and Dielectric testing on insulated equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
