About The Position

About the team: ZF Marine is seeking a new team member who is skilled in working with their hands, has mechanical aptitude, and is passionate about the marine industry. Our team's goal is to provide excellent customer service while performing in-shop or field installation, diagnostics, repairs, rebuilds, and testing of ZF Marine products. What you can look forward to as a Field Service Technician II: Perform Original Equipment (OE) modifications, service repairs, unit overhauls & inspections, general troubleshooting, and testing with some supervision from a senior tech, lead, supervisor or manager. Work with ZF Marine staff to ensure appropriate actions implemented to meet customer demands, with service and delivery issues timely resolved and communicated. Maintain good housekeeping while using safe work practices with proper tools and equipment, incl. precision measuring instruments. Ship/pack, receive/store, & ensure inventory controls maintained on tools, parts and equipment. Conduct warranty investigations & prepare required reporting. Position may require up to 25% overnight travel away from home to domestic and international locations to perform repairs onboard ships (e.g., removal & installation of complete transmissions or components, in hull complete or partial rebuilds). Perform Dock Testing & Sea Trials.

Requirements

  • Basic electrical / electronic knowledge, ability to use electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Fluent English, clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to use computers and software programs including: Outlook, Word, Excel, and other software applications.
  • High School diploma with 2+ years related experience.
  • Ability to meet security requirements for: Port access, Passport, and TWIC.
  • Previous experience in mechanical repairs that could include work in Automotive, Truck, Engine, Construction Equipment, or other Off Highway Equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
