About The Position

The Field Service Representative is responsible for managing utility services, including the initiation, termination, and restoration of services. This role involves direct interaction with customers to address inquiries and complaints, as well as performing maintenance and repairs on utility meters. The representative will utilize various computer systems to access customer account information and generate reports, ensuring efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of experience in plumbing or utility services.
• Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Previous municipal experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Access various computer systems for customer account information and meter reading reports.
• Initiate, terminate, and restore utility service.
• Maintain communication concerning utility customer accounts with customers and Customer Service via phone, radio, and email.
• Repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning meters or meter boxes.
• Check meters for proper functioning and report defects to a superior.
• Assist meter readers in identifying water line routes and locating meters.
• Respond to customer complaints or inquiries, explaining departmental rules and seeking to resolve disputes.
• Inspect water service and meters for leaks and excessive consumption, collecting payments in the field.
• Investigate illegal water connections and file reports as necessary.
• Generate electronic reports to identify discrepancies with data retrieved during meter activities.
• Electronically initiate work orders concerning deficient utility service connections.
• Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning the truck and equipment.
• Respond to citizen and staff complaints and other concerns related to utility services.
