Martin Marietta is currently seeking a skilled Field Service Mechanic to support the Greater Mankato area, currently dispatched out of our Mankato Shop. In this role, you'll be responsible for the safe, efficient maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of mobile equipment. Daily tasks will include servicing and troubleshooting equipment such as loaders, dozers, excavators, and other machinery typically used in construction and industrial operations. This is a union position, and membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49 is required. Essential Functions Maximizing the performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis. Performs fabrication and repairs to processing equipment and mobile equipment. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues for various types of equipment. Repair or replace faulty components, such as brakes and brake components, emission components, fuel, and fuel system components etc... Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Aides in the training of co-workers as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Education and Experience Post-secondary Diesel Mechanic certificate or degree preferred 1 + year related experience Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including electrical and hydraulic systems Experience with yellow iron/CAT equipment Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, prioritizing, and record-keeping. Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision. Able to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and in elevated work areas. Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and power tools. Able to adhere to MSHA & OSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations. Class “B” Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver’s license required, Class “A” preferred. Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production. Work Environment This role will be based out of the maintenance facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota – 25% in a shop setting, 75% in the field/outdoors. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position at a minimum of 40 hours per week and may require overtime as needed.
