About The Position

The primary responsibility is to perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance work on chassis and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment, in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field. This includes PM’s & Repair of Utility Trucks and Equipment, focusing on hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel systems. The role requires the ability to travel overnight when needed, estimated at 25% plus. The company provides a Utility Truck equipped with a welder, 4-ton crane, company computer, and phone. Pay is based on experience, with overtime as needed, and includes a healthcare plan, paid time off, 401k match, training, uniforms, safety-boot & safety glasses allowance, and a tool discount program.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five years of related experience (Shop Tech and Field Tech).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred).
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience.
  • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
  • DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to Service Manager, who will provide brief description of issues and supporting information related to the vehicle.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.
  • Diagnose and repair LMI Diagnostics (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network).
  • Experience troubleshooting and repair of Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.
  • Inspect and service vehicles and make repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
  • Verify work performed, road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
  • Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
  • Advise management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Attend CTOS safety training and follow all safety requirements.
  • Attend CTOS and factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
  • Work closely with Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
