Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ ASRC Federal System Solutions, an ASRC Federal subsidiary, is seeking a Range Tracking Field Service Engineer to join our NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center team. Under the supervision of the Work Group Lead, the position provides technical support of real-time aeronautics research and low earth orbiting space vehicles using radar tracking and mobile systems. This role is located at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA. As a part of this team, you will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with typical hours of 6:30am-4:00pm with occasional overtime (weekdays or weekends) to support mission flight operations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field or completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related work experience, including working in aircraft and/or spacecraft testing and range operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of range operations, including fixed and mobile tracking systems operations and maintenance and mobile systems deployment/operation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Security Clearance
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License and possess a REAL ID

  • Ability to identify tasks and assign priorities
  • Basic knowledge of operations, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting following standardized procedures.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications such as word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Technical experience/familiarity with the range tracking equipment

Responsibilities

  • Support telemetry, radar and data processing system operations as required.
  • Configure and calibrate the systems for mission support utilizing a preflight procedure; recognize and report, troubleshoot and repair any anomaly.
  • Interface with Range control and operations personnel in professional manner, using proper communications protocol.
  • Utilize various test equipment such as RF and fiber power meters, oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
  • Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits to component level without supervision.
  • Utilize PC-based peripheral systems in daily performance of job requirements.
  • Develop and update configuration drawings in Visio.
  • Maintain daily operation logs, mission database, preventive maintenance records and adhere to the Dryden Aeronautical Test Range (DATR) configuration control process.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on the systems as required.
  • Provide sustaining and developmental engineering on telemetry, radar and data communications systems.
  • Train and mentor lower-level personnel.
