About The Position

InTest Thermal Solutions (iTS) specializes in the design and manufacture of precision temperature control systems. Our breadth of products and in-house engineering capabilities allow us to be a single-partner-solution for thermal test, process cooling, and cold storage applications. We are recognized globally for our expertise in precise temperature control and simulation of extreme thermal environments, from -185 to +500°C, with rapid transitions or long dwell times. We are seeking an enthusiastic early-career Field Service Engineer to join our growing Service team. This role is ideal for recent engineering graduates or candidates looking to start a hands-on, customer-facing engineering career with strong technical development and travel opportunities. As a Field Service Engineer, you will receive training and mentorship while supporting the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of customer systems at client sites. You will work closely with our Head of Global Service, Sales, and Service Administration teams to ensure excellent customer experiences and reliable system performance. This position offers a unique blend of engineering, problem-solving, and customer interaction, with exposure to real-world applications and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Thermal, etc.)
  • Strong interest in hands-on engineering, troubleshooting, and field work
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • Comfortable working independently with guidance and support
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR compliance)
  • Ability to commute to the Mansfield, MA facility when not traveling
  • Service territory primarily covers the East Coast (Maine to Florida), with occasional U.S. or international travel as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, lab, or hands-on project experience
  • Exposure to refrigeration systems, electronics, thermal measurements, or mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (HubSpot a plus)
  • Experience with RS-232 / IEEE communications
  • EPA 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain with company support)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new customer systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and system calibrations (NIST and ISO 17025), with training provided
  • Troubleshoot and help resolve technical issues at customer sites
  • Learn to analyze product performance and identify root causes of issues
  • Communicate clearly with customers to understand their concerns and provide updates
  • Complete service documentation and reports using CRM and service tools
  • Support parts ordering and service logistics processes
  • Learn to recommend appropriate service agreements based on customer needs
  • Travel to customer sites across the East Coast (and occasionally beyond)
