About The Position

Description Upgrading Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment and fiber infrastructure at remote locations CONUS an OCONUS Designing and implementing cable infrastructure for data centers and outside plant fiber, working with network engineers to establish Layer 1 connectivity Performing installation of routers, switches, encryptors and patch panels in racks Working with node site coordinator to extend WAN circuits to routers Coordinating with remote site POC’s to plan, design, and schedule equipment and infrastructure installation Coordinating with remote COMSEC custodians to ensure the correct keymat is ordered ahead of installation, working with local COMSEC custodians to send out appropriate COMSEC device to site Creating cable diagrams before and update after installation is complete #LI-TF1

Requirements

  • Information technology background required
  • Knowledge of copper cable infrastructure (CAT5E, CAT6, CAT6A)
  • Knowledge of single mode and multimode fiber (OS2, OM1, OM3, OM4)
  • Knowledge of fusion splicing fiber; splice on connectors, loose tube, and ribbon fiber; splice trays
  • Knowledge of pre - terminated fiber cables (MTP-MTP, MPO-MPO, MTP-LC, LC-LC)
  • Troubleshooting wide area network and local area network connectivity issues
  • Knowledge of different fiber optic transceivers (SFP, QSFP, Media converters)
  • Working knowledge of hand tools (drills, screw drivers, etc..)
  • General knowledge and use of a windows computer and applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visual Basic)
  • Prior Military service or contracting work with government agencies
  • Lift, carry, and move 50 lbs
  • SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TOP SECRET LEVEL WITH TOP SECRET / SCI ELIGIBILITY
  • 75% Travel; able to travel for up to a month at a time, usually, one to two weeks
  • Able to obtain US passport (company pays)
  • Driver’s license required
  • Willing to drive overseas to include (Left side of the road I.E. England, Japan etc.)
  • No Company travel credit card, company reimbursement

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in routers, cryptographers, circuit activation, and fiber infrastructure
  • Knowledge of outside plant fiber installation and safety; OSHA safety, confined space training
  • Knowledge about Data Center Infrastructure; hot aisle cold aisle; cable ladders, Rack installation, cable management etc.
  • Troubleshooting wide area network and local area network connectivity issues
  • Knowledge of test equipment. Visual Fault Locator; Fiber Optic Power Meters; CAT5E tester; OTDR; TBERD
  • Knowledge of DISA TSO (Telecommunication Service Order)

Responsibilities
