As a Field Service Engineer I at Applied Materials, you will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing equipment performance. This role involves working both in a state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, where you will represent the company and support the technology essential for semiconductor chip manufacturing. You will receive training to install, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials equipment, ensuring world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.

  • Assist senior engineers with installing customer equipment and performing scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Follow training procedures and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation and safety training procedures for processing parts.
  • Professionally represent Applied Materials to customers, maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy on-site requirements, including safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines.
  • An associate degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an Associate's Degree.
  • 1-2 years of related work experience in customer/field support.
  • Willingness to learn how to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.
