About The Position

We are looking for a talented Field Service Diesel Engine Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Lafayette, LA. In this role, you will make an impact by completing repairs and rebuilds on engine products in the field, developing productive customer relations, and ensuring prompt and efficient attention to customer needs. You will apply documented procedures and policies to complete repairs and schedule maintenance, including preparing required parts and tools. Additionally, you will assist with the completion of required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims, and quality forms, via handwritten forms or business system input screens. You will also complete training in line with skill and business requirements and ensure adherence to all meaningful Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation, reporting any issues or incidents to your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance
  • Ability to engage customers professionally
  • Familiarity with specialized tools and documented procedures
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental policies

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Diesel Technician Level II
  • Certification in diesel engine technology
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs and rebuilds on engine products in the field
  • Develop productive customer relations and ensure prompt and efficient attention to customer needs
  • Apply documented procedures and policies to complete repairs and schedule maintenance
  • Prepare required parts and tools for repairs
  • Assist with completion of required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims, and quality forms
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and report any issues to supervisor
  • Engage customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards
  • Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor
  • Identify additional service opportunities with customers
  • Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
