Field Service Automation Engineer

LevitasbioMenlo Park, CA
4d$150,000 - $175,000

About The Position

We are looking for a high-energy, hands-on Field Service Automation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be the bridge between how our product is built and how it is used. In-house, you will help with the testing and automation development of the LeviCell 96 and LeviCell 12 systems as well as integration of our novel magnetic Levitation Arrays with more advanced liquid handling robots. In supporting our customers and collaborators, you will travel to high-end Pharmaceutical customers and academic labs to install these systems, or integrate arrays with 3rd-party liquid handling robots, and ensure our clients are successful. We don't expect you to know everything on day one—we are looking for an engineer with strong problem-solving skills, a working knowledge of liquid handling robotics, and excellent communication skills who is eager to learn, willing to travel, and ready to get their hands dirty.

Requirements

  • Experience with programming and using automated liquid handling systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel on short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a wet lab environment. Basic knowledge of molecular biology and cellular assays: theoretical knowledge is okay, practical is better.
  • Customer service or client-facing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Custom Integrations: Assist in integrating our hardware with third-party liquid handling robots (e.g., Beckman Coulter, Hamilton, Eppendorf, Tecan). You will help "teach" the robots how to interact with our arrays.
  • Field Installations: Travel to customer sites (including top-tier Pharma companies) to unpack, install, and calibrate systems.
  • Customer Support: Serve as the face of the company during field installations. Troubleshoot hardware issues, run basic test scripts, and ensure the customer is happy before you leave. Support internal customers too, with hardware maintenance, troubleshooting and protocol development.
  • Wet Lab Testing: Perform basic biological checks and QC assays (pipetting, running beads/cells) to verify system performance.

Benefits

  • Rapid Growth: as part of a small startup team, develop a wide range of skills with potential to build a team with company growth.
  • Impact: You will be working with technology that is at the forefront of tools for biomedical research.
  • Mentorship: You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists who are dedicated to your professional development.
