Earth Systems is seeking an Entry-Level Field Scientist / Engineer / Geologist to join our environmental consulting team. This is a hands-on, field-driven role ideal for early-career professionals who want to build technical expertise while working outdoors in Florida’s diverse environmental conditions. This hybrid position blends responsibilities of an Environmental Technician with foundational duties of an Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer, providing excellent long-term growth potential within our multidisciplinary team. You will work in all weather conditions, heat, humidity, rain, wetlands, woods, and active job site; while supporting environmental sampling, remediation activities, field investigations, and project execution.

  • Perform soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling following strict QA/QC protocols.
  • Assist with environmental site assessments (Phase I/II) and remediation system O&M.
  • Conduct field inspections, site documentation, and basic engineering/geologic field tasks.
  • Support environmental drilling, well installation oversight, and logging of subsurface materials.
  • Maintain field equipment, instruments, and calibration logs.
  • Assist in preparing field reports, data summaries, and project documentation.
  • Safely operate hand tools and basic field equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, senior scientists, and engineers to support project execution.
  • Travel to project sites across Florida as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field
  • Clean, valid driver’s license and ability to pass a 5-year MVR check
  • Ability to work full-time outdoors in all Florida climate conditions (heat, rain, wetlands, uneven terrain)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn environmental field methods
  • Able to work independently and as part of a field crew
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol screening, background check, and physical
  • Coursework or internship experience in environmental sampling, geology, hydrology, engineering, or remediation
  • Experience with GPS, GIS, field meters, pumps, or environmental sampling equipment
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (or ability to obtain after hire)
  • Strong technical writing, observing, and documentation skills
