About the role Drive educational innovation across campuses as you lead a team of passionate sales professionals who are transforming education. As our field sales manager, you’ll empower your team to partner with forward-thinking professors who are ready to elevate their teaching through instructional AI tools. You’ll help build, coach and inspire a high-energy outside sales team, helping them foster meaningful relationships with professors who are eager to boost student engagement and critical thinking. Your strategic vision will help shape how we expand our presence across colleges and universities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing an outside sales team of at least 5 reps
  • A demonstrated track record of your team consistently reaching goals and retaining high-performing reps
  • 2+ years of experience in the Higher Ed Publishing industry or EdTech. Ideally you have experience selling directly to professors.
  • A strong understanding of technology use and implementation in an educational environment, particularly with Learning Management Systems and curricula
  • Analytical skills and the ability to understand and manage a large sales pipeline
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with strong emotional intelligence
  • A resilient, optimistic attitude that keeps you and your team always moving forward
  • Ability to travel frequently within assigned territory, up to 50% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development: Partner with VP of Sales to architect and execute breakthrough sales strategies to capture market share and exceed revenue targets.
  • Team Leadership and Excellence: Build and inspire a high-performing field sales team through targeted recruitment, comprehensive training and dynamic, in-field and hybrid coaching. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best-in-class training initiatives and professional development pathways.
  • Sales Optimization and Performance: Drive momentum through expert guidance in negotiation strategies, pipeline optimization, and closing techniques. Accompany account executives on campus visits to provide real-time guidance and support, elevating their ability to engage and influence academic decision-makers. Leverage your proven sales acumen to model best practices, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure seamless customer demos and interactions.
  • Performance Tracking: Lead through metrics, using advanced KPI tracking to inform strategic decisions and maximize team effectiveness. Partner with Revenue Operations to refine processes and leverage analytics that accelerate sales success.
  • Cross-functional leadership:: Orchestrate seamless collaboration between marketing, product and customer success teams to deliver exceptional value to customers. Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring their needs drive our product evolution and market approach.
  • Strategic Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture influential relationships across higher education institutions. Position your team as trusted advisors who understand the unique challenges and opportunities to pair with Packback’s solutions.
