About The Position
As a Field Safety Technician at Westinghouse Electric, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety compliance and performance across various sites. This position is part of WECTEC Staffing Services, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, which emphasizes the importance of safety in the workplace. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety protocols in accordance with the approved safety program, acting as a liaison between site safety and corporate safety organizations. Your primary goal will be to eliminate workplace hazards and address safety concerns effectively. In this role, you will attend pre-job briefings to reinforce safety expectations and conduct site safety orientations for contractors. You will also perform site safety inspections to ensure compliance with guidelines, customer safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and best safety practices. Investigating incidents such as injuries, near misses, and property damage will be a key responsibility, as you will need to determine the causes and recommend preventive measures. Additionally, you will be required to complete all necessary reports and paperwork related to these incidents and forward them to the appropriate personnel. Physical capability is essential for this position, as you will need to conduct thorough site inspections, which may involve walking, climbing, stooping, bending, crawling, or reaching. You will also have the opportunity to develop and conduct training tailored to specific site needs, ensuring that all personnel are well-informed about safety practices.
