About The Position

Citadel is currently performing drilling operations in the Permian basin and is looking to add a qualified Field Based Safety Representative to our team. This position will play a critical role in shaping safety culture, preventing incidents, and ensuring every worker returns home unharmed. The Field Safety Representative role is not just an enforcer of rules, but will act as a coach, mentor, and champion for safe operational performance. The Field Safety Representative’s responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment through proactive hazard identification, safety leadership, policy compliance, and coaching in the field. This role works directly with rig crews and supervisors to promote safety culture and ensure alignment with company Life Saving Rules, regulatory requirements and industry recommended practices.

Requirements

  • Experience in oil & gas drilling, well services, or a related industrial field, with a strong understanding of drilling operations, equipment, and relevant regulations. Previous field-level safety experience or HSE advisory role preferred.
  • Certification or training in HSE, or safety-related credentials (e.g. OSHA, EPA, API, NCSO, etc.).
  • Able to build trust, lead through influence, and communicate effectively at all crew levels.
  • Comfortable working in remote environments and rotational schedules.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other programs used to support safety and compliance initiatives.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean MVR required.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, audit and address multiple worksites activities to assess compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide on-site coaching, feedback, and mentorship to crew members regarding safe work practices.
  • Participate in or lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-job planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Life Saving Rules, hazard reporting, incident reporting, and corrective action processes.
  • Monitor high-risk operations (e.g., well control activities, lifting operations, confined spaces) to ensure safe execution.
  • Acts as a liaison between field operations, management and client representation
  • Identify and document safety hazards, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviors.
  • Support and encourage continuous hazard recognition and employee participation in reporting.
  • Conduct field inspections, audits, and safety observations; document and communicate findings.
  • Respond to incidents, lead incident investigations and root cause analysis as required.
  • Work with rig leadership and other safety professionals to support a unified safety culture.
  • Provide timely communication of safety trends, risks, and recommended improvements.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable point-of-contact on all HSE matters for field staff.
