About The Position

This position delivers safety assurance of all activities for the PPS business units, providing confidence that operational work requirements are consistently fulfilled safely.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to perform indoor and outdoor work activities related to inspecting.
  • Exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust and asphalt.
  • Noise levels which can be extreme when checking safety conditions at job sites.
  • Regularly working near moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform under adverse field conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, when required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
  • Must be willing and able to drive a vehicle to multiple Divisions/geographic areas.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Current, valid driver license with a good driving record.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills with the ability to express and exchange ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Familiar with accident and incident investigations and writing reports.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply good judgment to effectively assess and recommend solutions in day-to-day activities and emergency situations.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • OSHA 10/30 Certified.
  • Experience in the utility field construction work.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects PPS business unit activities for safety compliance of customer operations standards, operation procedures, safety procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensure company compliance with all applicable laws governing environmental, health and safety.
  • Monitors performance and makes independent judgments related to continued safe work practices having authority to adjust the work process and to halt jobs if necessary.
  • Documents and reports inspection findings activities to meet customer Operating Standards, industry practices, and safety and environmental guidelines, communicating to appropriate management as necessary.
  • Identifies problems, provides recommendations for solutions and improvements, and implements changes as approved.
  • Participate in the development of safety and health policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Design and train all levels of employees.
  • Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperate in the preparation of material for hearings and insurance investigations.
