About The Position

Fiber Network Services is a communications contractor offering a full range of fiber optic and cable network services. Servicing Cox Communications, Comcast Cable, Segra and Suddenlink in the States of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and in Washington D.C., we are a trusted resource for cabling and maintaining high-speed internet connectivity via fiber optic and coaxial systems. FNS is looking to hire a Temporary (3-6 months) with possibility to become fulltime Field Safety Associate. The Field Safety Associate supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of company safety programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. This role works closely with field leadership and the Companywide Safety Manager to enforce safety policies, conduct training, investigate incidents, and maintain compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, with a primary focus on operations supporting the Manassas location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in construction, telecommunications, utilities, or field-based operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of traffic control and basic safety principles.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and general safety compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • Able to pass a background check and drug test

Nice To Haves

  • Basic or intermediate work zone traffic control (WZTC) certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and enforcing company safety policies, procedures, and programs across assigned operations.
  • Support safety training initiatives, including onboarding, refresher training, and job-specific safety instruction.
  • Assist with incident investigations, near-miss reporting, and corrective action tracking.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, logs, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local safety regulations.
  • Analyze incident trends and safety metrics and recommend improvements to reduce risk and prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with supervisors and field leadership to reinforce a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries as needed.
