About The Position

TransCore (TCI) , a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is hiring a Field RF Technician to join our team in Southwest Florida . This home‑based position requires the ability to respond to corrective maintenance requests or system alarms within a two‑hour timeframe. The role covers a South Florida region from Jupiter to the Florida Keys, and the candidate must live within a reasonable distance to meet this requirement. The Miramar area (ZIP code 33025) serves as a central hub for the region Job Summary: Performs on‑site repair and/or installation of telecommunications equipment. This position may include any aspect of field support and installation and is not limited to electrical, data, wireless, and fiber optic cable installation.

Requirements

  • Background in electronics and Radio Frequency communications
  • Systems and network element troubleshooting skills
  • Solid IP networking skills
  • Ability to work independently; must be a self‑starter
  • Ability to communicate effectively to perform work assignments
  • Must clear a Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background check
  • Typically requires a minimum of two (2) years of related experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) strongly preferred
  • Must maintain a driver’s license in good standing , as verified by TransCore
  • Must be comfortable working at heights that could exceed 50 feet

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in electronics, IT, or telecommunications, or equivalent military experience
  • Knowledge of electronics and Radio Frequency (RF) theory
  • Ability to install, repair, and maintain Radio Frequency network communications equipment

Responsibilities

  • Installation, preventive, and corrective maintenance of equipment including Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network communications equipment, microwave radio network equipment, IP routing and switching equipment, site security systems, and tower lighting systems
  • Complete reports, logs, and communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and practices
  • Respond to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within a two‑hour time frame
  • Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and system issues
  • Accurately report technical system status
  • Restore equipment to operational status as quickly as possible
  • Maintain spare equipment and parts following established guidelines and procedures
  • Isolate faults to board, module, or component level
  • Field test units and/or components
  • Perform electronic filing of service tickets
  • Perform other duties as assigned
