About The Position

The field restoration engineer will provide engineering and technical support for projects as needed. Primary responsibilities include providing stream design support and leading and participating in a team to collect geomorphological data for large-scale stream and wetland restoration projects throughout the United States. Additional duties include project planning and analysis, developing the company's LiDAR data collection capabilities, preparing technical reports, and attending site visits to ensure structures are installed properly.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Strong ability to communicate engineering and technical information effectively through verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, RiverMorph and HEC-RAS.
  • Basic knowledge of watershed hydrology, stream hydraulics and sediment transport.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, including profiles and stationing.
  • Strong teamwork, self-motivation and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a UTV safely in all conditions.
  • Ability to travel to sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, survey engineering, geomatic engineering or a related field required.
  • Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Zero to three-plus years of related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or related field preferred; relevant certifications may be considered.
  • Natural stream design training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre- and post-construction surveys for stream and wetland restoration projects.
  • Perform field monitoring and data collection at wetland and stream mitigation sites.
  • Ability to operate Trimble®, Topcon or Leica survey equipment, including GPS and robotic total station.
  • Quality assurance and quality control field data.
  • Work outdoors in various conditions and terrains and carry all necessary equipment.
  • Operate, or learn to operate, an unmanned aircraft to collect LiDAR data.
  • Post-process raw survey and LiDAR data for use in restoration designs.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Provide stream restoration design support and assist in plan production.
  • Provide other engineering, computer or technical assistance as directed.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with OSHA law and regulations, company safety procedures, company policies, and state and federal environmental regulations.
