About The Position

The Field Planner position at Central Maine Power Co involves designing construction work orders using the Work Management System (WMS). The role requires staking lines, preparing sketches, circuit maps, diagrams, and estimates, as well as assisting with or performing other necessary work for the planning, preparation, and completion of construction and maintenance tasks. The Field Planner will also prepare and obtain private property easements and the necessary information for municipal petitions and permits. Additional responsibilities include assisting with load checks, investigating customer complaints, and planning corrective actions when necessary. The position requires carrying out online inspection work and representing the company on contract work, while maintaining necessary records and performing other appropriate duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least a two-year degree in electrical or mechanical engineering technology or related field, or seven (7) years of line worker experience.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age with a high school education or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license without restrictions and a safe, responsible driving record.
  • Familiarity with all kinds of line construction, materials, standards, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of circuits, feeds, switches, etc., in the assigned area.
  • Ability and personality to properly represent the company in the field.
  • Familiarity with the company’s published instructions and directives.
  • Ability to write or print legibly and make accurate estimates, records, and reports.
  • Thorough knowledge of the company's operating standards, policies, and directives.
  • Ability to deal courteously with all customers.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety instructions affecting the work.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the classification.
