Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution and a member of the University System of Maryland, is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to fill the position of Field Placement Coordinator within the College of Arts & Sciences and Education (CASE). This role is essential in facilitating the placement of students in their chosen career paths, particularly in P-6 classrooms, to support early practicum placements across all core courses at the midpoint level and student teaching/internship courses at the capstone level. The Field Placement Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and tracking each student’s placement across all courses, ensuring a diverse range of site placements that reflect the varied educational environments in which students will work. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with department chairs to coordinate events related to placement efforts, including scheduling and hosting orientation sessions for both students and mentors. These sessions may occur during evenings and weekends to accommodate the schedules of all participants. The coordinator will also be tasked with reporting placement details and tracking data to the Chairs Council and the Teacher Education Council, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged in the placement process. A strong understanding of the education accreditation process, particularly the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), is essential for this role, as the coordinator will be involved in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
