About The Position

TRAXyL is an innovative technology company that has developed a new method for installing infrastructure, like fiber optic cables, over the last mile. Our patented techniques “paint” cables and microducts into the surface of pavement. Our technologies enable installers to efficiently install telecommunication and other networks. We enable customers an affordable, on-demand connectivity solution, without the need to bury cables underground or string along utility poles. Some end-users include federal, state, and local government, campus and business IT directors, Internet Service Providers, network operators, and utility contractors. We are a venture-backed startup with additional support from the National Science Foundation, In-Q-Tel, US Air Force and US Army Corps of Engineers. We are seeking a hands‑on, mechanically inclined Field Operations Technician to support our installation projects and product deployment efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, outdoor work, operating equipment, and contributing to high‑quality field installations. You’ll work closely with teammates, engineers, and operations staff to help deliver safe, efficient, and consistent installation outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in fieldwork, construction, infrastructure installation, or related hands‑on roles.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to adapt in changing environments.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with utility, telecom, or construction environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field installation activities using TRAXyL’s innovative pavement‑based installation techniques.
  • Operate machinery, tools, and equipment required for installation tasks.
  • Assist with site preparation, material handling, and on‑site logistics.
  • Follow safety protocols, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Conduct basic equipment checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Document installation activities and communicate updates to the operations team.
  • Support field testing, quality checks, and field data collection.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers during product deployment.
  • Can excel in a flexible work environment, can take initiative, and thrive at a startup company
