About The Position

Must be a registered Republican To declare your political party affiliation, you must select a partisan ballot in an even year Primary Election. Examines polling locations for accessibility, adequate spacing, and ADA compliance; troubleshoots issues at existing locations for all elections. Responsible for hiring, supervising, and training Precinct Election Officials (PEOs), Election Day rovers, substation personnel, and seasonal PEO training staff. Manages PEO implementation plans and coordinates assignments in collaboration with the PEO Recruitment department. Oversees preparation and processing of PEO payroll and maintains accurate inventory of training and election supplies. Supports all recruitment and training needs for PEOs and temporary staff. Develops and implements PEO training programs, including creating training materials such as PowerPoints, videos, quick guides, comprehensive manuals, VLM handbooks, online training modules, hands-on sessions, and sample voter scenario classes. Hires, retrains, and supervises PEO trainers with approval of the Director/Deputy Director, managing their schedules and assignments. Assists in facilitating transportation, use, and inventory of voting equipment for all elections, PEO training classes, and Voter Education Outreach Programs. Ensures that election operations comply with federal and state statutory requirements. Maintains confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all activities. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Directors, the Board of Elections, and/or as prescribed by law. Why Join Us? Requirements

  • Must be a registered Republican
  • Associate’s Degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent GED required, plus 2 years of vocational training or equivalent supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with elections or related work.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment, training, team building. and supervision of staff.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Adaptable, flexible, dependable, and self-motivated under pressure.
  • PC literate with proficiency in MS Office; ability to create spreadsheets and databases using Excel and Access.
  • Ability to enter data accurately and type 40 WPM.
  • Knowledge of federal and state election laws, ADA requirements, and record retention policies.
  • Professional attitude and appearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years’ experience in coordinating/facilitating teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees “grip area” for loading/unloading election supplies and proofing ballots.
  • Manages Booth Officials, warehouse personnel, PEO trainers, and seasonal PEO training staff.
  • Supervises recruitment, hiring, scheduling, and retention of PEOs and seasonal employees.
  • Tracks PEO vacancies and staffing needs during each election.
  • Develops and delivers training for PEOs and trainers, including materials for online, classroom, and hands-on sessions.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of PEO and election training supplies; communicates purchasing needs to Directors.
  • Prepares and executes project planning and implementation for election operations and PEO programs.
  • Ensures workflows, deadlines, and priorities are met as established by the Directors and the Board of Elections.
  • Applies excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication, and fostering an environment of team building and collaboration.
  • Assists in facilitating transportation, use, and inventory of voting equipment for all elections, PEO training classes, and Voter Education Outreach Programs.
  • Maintains all deadlines for the Board of Elections and meets requirements set by the Secretary of State.
  • Follows all safety and security protocols established by the Ohio Secretary of State, BOE Directors, and Lucas County Facilities Department.
  • Secures all Board property and practices safety with all employees.
  • Ensures accessibility compliance and delivery/setup of mandated ADA equipment at all polling locations.
  • Demonstrates a continuing willingness to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
  • Supports a fair, accessible, and cost-effective election for Lucas County voters.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director/Deputy Director, the Board of Elections, and/or as prescribed by law.
