About The Position

The US Medical Affairs (MA) Business Operational Excellence Lead- Field is an integral member of the US Medical Business Operations and US Medical Affairs Field Organization. The lead is responsible for providing overall Business Operational Excellence management overseeing a team of Operational Excellence colleagues that support US Medical Affairs Field teams. They are a part of a working environment where colleagues understand and exhibit customer-focused medical professionalism with honor and integrity. The role reports to the U.S. Medical Affairs Business Operations Team Lead with strong dotted line to the US MA Field Medical Lead and close collaboration with the US Field Medical Leadership Team, Category US Business Operational Excellence Leads including Internal Medicine US Business Operational Excellence Lead Vx Business Operational Excellence Lead and SC Business Operational Excellence Lead as well as with other cross functional partners. This role will provide strategic and operational support for key priorities and deliverables across Field teams. The position will require the ability to lead execution aligned with strategic goals to ensure deliverables are on track and within budget. This includes alignment across key stakeholders, influencing in a matrix environment, highly effective communication, conflict resolution, and sharing best practices within US Medical Affairs and US Medical Affairs Field Organizations as well as cross-functionally. Key focus areas include: People Management of Operational Excellence colleagues supporting: Field Medical Strategic & Operations Planning Field Medical Budget Management Process and Change Management Alignment with Operational Excellence colleagues & Field Teams Compliance Communication Risk Management Organizational Effectiveness Talent and Resource Management Organizational Process & Change Management –Field Teams Leads continuous improvement efforts, adjusting in real-time and navigating complexity, change, conflict, and challenges. Aligns with leadership and leads change management initiatives and effective communication strategies with the organization. Examples include: Integration of new products and indications, i.e., via acquisition of new entities or advancement through internal clinical pipeline. New technology implementation Medical Financial Management –Field Teams Overall Budget Management Oversees budget management for direct reports ensuring execution of budget process aligned with team’s accountabilities. Identifies risks/opportunities, and develops and drives mitigation plans Leads discussions with leadership and team members to analyze and interpret budget forecast and actuals information Operating Plan Guides Operational Excellence colleagues to oversees and/or lead all aspects of developing the Asset or Field Operating Plan budget by translating medical strategies to tactics. Ensures that timelines and deliverables are met. Compliance Oversees Operational Excellence team compliance with training assignments by tracking compliance metrics, escalation of compliance concerns, communicating with Leadership, identifying exceptions, and ensuring team follow-through Oversees training endorsements for new training courses for Operational Excellence team Performance Tracking Drives the portfolio of activities to ensure successful execution to plan and delivery of business imperatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (e.g., masters) highly preferred
  • Relevant experience required: 8+ years with bachelor’s degree; 7+ with masters degree

Nice To Haves

  • >8 years of experience in Project Management, Business Operations
  • Prior experience in Medical Affairs is highly preferred.
  • >8 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or related fields
  • Previous people management experience preferred
  • Understanding and adherence to Project Management methodologies
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently with shown flexibility and organizational awareness
  • Ability to create & oversee complex projects, including budget management & fiscal awareness
