FiberTel is seeking an experienced Field Mechanic for its Reno, NV location. This role involves traveling to job sites throughout California to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and fleet trucks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the industry, capable of performing a wide range of repairs including electrical, engine, hydraulic, and welding work on various equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, dozers, and plows. A service truck and specialized tools will be provided, but the mechanic must have their own basic tools.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in heavy equipment mechanic work
  • Computer skills including things like word, and excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage a schedule and organize time
  • Willing to travel out of state (60%)
  • Experience with heavy diesel repair and maintenance
  • Experience with hydraulic and electrical repairs
  • Knowledge of fuel systems; both diesel and gas
  • Ability to perform electrical diagnostics using a scanner
  • Welding Experience
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Diesel mechanic certified (Required) or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ford 6.7 Diesel and GM 6.6 Duramax
  • Safety Inspection certified
  • Management experience
  • Class A CDL

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment
  • Travel to job sites all around California
  • Perform engine repairs and maintenance
  • Perform safety inspections
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair transmission systems
  • Make necessary repairs to hydraulic and air brakes
  • Repair and maintain HVAC systems
  • Make electrical repairs
  • Perform oil changes as needed
  • Maintain a clean work area, tools, and equipment
