The Diesel Field Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles on-site as well as within garage location. This position supports the Construction teams and works with personnel within the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 3 years of Mechanic experience.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to do tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
  • Basic diesel and drive train experience.
  • Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
  • Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 or more years of experience.
  • DOT Certified Flagger.
  • CDL Class A license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner in the field and garage.
  • Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
  • Place orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
  • Provide support and training for Mechanics on the team.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
