The Field Mechanic (Heavy Equipment) is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Heavy Civil Construction Equipment. This role involves diagnosing problems and performing mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy civil construction equipment, including bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, forklifts, and company vehicles. The mechanic inspects and documents the condition of equipment for items needing repair or service, replaces or repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment, and rebuilds or fabricates parts. Additionally, the mechanic lubricates moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications, performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist, drives a pick-up or service truck, and is safety conscious, responding to inquiries promptly and ensuring situations are taken care of correctly. Other related duties may be required or assigned.
