About The Position

The Field Maintenance Technician role at Patterson-UTI involves traveling to drilling rig locations to perform essential maintenance and repair tasks on various drilling equipment. This position is critical for ensuring the reliability and safety of operations in the oil and gas industry. Technicians will engage in a variety of tasks, including servicing, testing, and troubleshooting equipment, while also providing support and training to operational crews.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and eligibility to drive a company vehicle.
• Ability to navigate drilling rig work sites safely.
• Ability to travel to remote drilling rig locations, including overnight stays.
• Ability to work a rotational schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Lift and carry 50 pounds independently on uneven surfaces.
• Demonstrate clear communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Basic math skills and computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in using maintenance software and updating work orders.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of technical training or advanced education courses.
• Experience with control systems in automation and electronics.
• Experience with instrumentation and electronics control systems.
• Diesel technology and power generation experience.

Responsibilities

• Travel to drilling rig locations to perform maintenance duties.
• Service, repair, and adjust drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct rigorous testing of drilling equipment for safety and reliability.
• Provide support and training to operational crews on preventative maintenance checks and services.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical faults and coordinate repairs.
• Document findings from technical inspections on various drilling equipment.
• Participate in maintenance-related projects with rig crews or third-party support.
• Develop and monitor spare and replacement parts listings for specific equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving on assigned equipment and assets.
• Assist operations in implementing maintenance policies.
