About The Position

The Field Maintenance Lead provides daily leadership and technical support to field mechanics, ensuring safe, timely, and high‑quality equipment maintenance. The role oversees troubleshooting, manages repair workflows, maintains service‑truck and parts‑trailer readiness, and ensures accurate documentation. This position also serves as a key communication link between mechanics, supervisors, and operations to support equipment reliability and operational continuity.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience maintaining and repairing electronic instrumentation and automation on oilfield services equipment
  • A Technical associate’s degree or certificate is preferred and may be substitute for experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Maintaining a current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, required
  • Expert level knowledge of Tier 2, Tier 4, and E-Frac equipment
  • Must be forklift and man lift operator certified or willing to receive training to obtain certification
  • Must be air brake certified
  • Must have moderate knowledge of perforating, hydraulic fracturing and nitrogen operations
  • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic fracturing equipment, 12/24-volt systems, and diesel transmissions (i.e., CAT, Cummins, and Detroit)
  • Must have knowledge of fluid capacities and types used in engines, transmissions, power ends, drive boxes, and small engines
  • Clear communication skills, able to effectively interact with team members, leads, and supervisors
  • Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Power Apps, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Safety conscious, observant, and willing to use stop work authority when necessary
  • Must be physically able to safely perform duties during a 12+ hour work shift that will include days, nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Must be able to safely perform duties in all weather conditions including extreme heat or cold
  • Must be physically able to remain alert and safe during exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles, and moderate to loud noises
  • Must be physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb equipment ladders or stairs throughout the work shift
  • Must be physically able to safely lift or move 50 lbs. without assistance
  • NFPA 70 Electrical Certification
  • DGB (Dynamic Gas Blending) Certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting across all organizational levels
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented, and self-motivated

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands‑on support to field mechanics, including troubleshooting equipment issues and covering shifts in emergency as needed.
  • Conduct routine walk‑arounds with crews and onsite mechanics to identify leaks, repairs, or equipment deficiencies requiring attention.
  • Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel), as well as hydraulic, pneumatic, and 12/24‑volt systems.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and ensure all maintenance meets quality and reliability standards.
  • Conduct test runs and quality checks before returning equipment to operations.
  • Document repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities accurately and in a timely manner within ProPetro’s CMMS (ServiceMax).
  • Respond to maintenance issues and call‑outs during assigned hitch, coordinating with supervisors and field teams as needed.
  • Communicate equipment failures, repair needs, and operational impacts to field supervisors, managers, treaters, and field coordinators.
  • Manage mechanic parts trailers, ensuring parts are stocked, organized, and ready for deployment.
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
