About The Position
The Field Machinist position is a critical role within the Field Service Division, responsible for addressing industrial equipment issues through repairs and modifications both in-house and at customer locations. This role involves utilizing a variety of mechanical equipment, including portable machining tools such as mills, flange facers, boring bars, lathes, and welders, to effectively resolve equipment problems. The Field Machinist will have opportunities to work with custom equipment as needed, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety. In addition to performing repairs and modifications, the Field Machinist will assist with preliminary site visits and job planning, ensuring that all necessary preparations are made before commencing work. The role requires a proactive approach to communication, as the Field Machinist will need to collaborate closely with Project Engineers and the Field Machining Supervisor to discuss onsite information and work scope. This position also involves assisting the machine shop with various jobs when field work is not scheduled, demonstrating versatility and a willingness to support the team in multiple capacities. Training may be required for specific press knowledge, and the Field Machinist will be cross-trained in machining, welding, mechanical, and other field solutions as necessary. Safety is paramount in this role, and the Field Machinist must adhere to all company policies and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe working environment. Responsibilities will also include assisting supervisors, engineering, and management in the design and manufacturing of custom machine tools or fixtures, as well as performing other duties as assigned.
