About the position

The position involves leading a staff of Damage Prevention Coordinators (DPCs) to improve locate accuracy and minimize damage to buried facilities. Responsibilities include monitoring DPC performance, coordinating vacation schedules, creating training programs, approving time sheets and expenses, and ensuring compliance with state-specific one-call legislation. The role also requires conducting field audits, managing customer outreach, and executing 811 education programs. The position emphasizes safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while collaborating with internal and external regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a staff of Damage Prevention Coordinators (DPCs) to improve locate accuracy and minimize damage to buried facilities.
  • Monitor DPC performance at meetings with related personnel to determine employee effectiveness.
  • Coordinate DPC vacation schedule to maintain adequate levels.
  • Create and maintain a training program for new DPCs.
  • Approve daily time sheets and administer the annual vacation schedule.
  • Approve all expenses within My Spend.
  • Monitor High Risk Excavator report and assign DPC to those tickets.
  • Work with OCMs to ensure that turnbacks and other trouble tickets are resolved timely.
  • Ensure that turnbacks are documented and repaired in accordance with our standards.
  • Conduct field audits on DPCs and contractor locators to ensure quality locates are taking place.
  • Manage and enforce CBA.
  • Ensure that customer/public outreach is taking place with the DPCs.
  • Support the timely execution of locate requests and accurate facility locates to prevent personal injury, property damage, and to protect company assets.
  • Solicit local support to assure completion of work within the mandated 48-hour window.
  • Ensure contractors have the most current facility records and that records have been loaded into the GIS system.
  • Execute compliance in accordance with state specific one-call legislation requirements.
  • Execute and address locate requests that are in danger of exceeding mandated timeframes.
  • Make necessary communications to ensure that facilities are protected and marked, as required.
  • Continually prioritize workload to assist field personnel as non-compliance issues are identified.
  • Collaborate with internal and external regulatory compliance in identifying areas for improvement.
  • Suggest process improvements to further enhance safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Execute 811 education programs developed by Locate Analyst.
  • Evaluate and track DPC execution of the 811 education programs.
  • Make multiple judgment-based decisions relating to one-call legislation compliance, emergency response, and safety concerns in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years or more of supervisory or related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of gas and electric construction practices.
  • Ability to motivate various stakeholders with varying priorities to accomplish a common goal.
  • Strong organization skills to efficiently manage field operations personnel.
  • Good technology and computer-based skills.
  • Possess the vision to recognize potential problems and develop solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to work with others inside and outside the Company.
  • Ability to work with others in a positive manner to coordinate resources and accomplish work requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
