About the BuildUp Program The BuildUp Program provides individuals with hands‑on jobsite experience, guidance, and exposure to construction careers. Participants work alongside a designated mentor who offers guidance, encouragement, and hands‑on learning while helping them understand jobsite expectations and build foundational construction skills. This program is designed to help participants understand the day‑to‑day work, expectations, and opportunities available in construction. Continued employment opportunities, when available, are based on individual readiness and business needs.

Requirements

  • Are interested in learning about construction work
  • Show up on time and are ready to work
  • Can follow directions and work well with others
  • Are willing to learn new skills in a hands‑on environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Basic communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and follow a schedule
  • Basic math skills
  • Physical ability to perform jobsite work
  • Ability to travel to and work at different job locations
  • Currently enrolled in a community-based program or school
  • Knowledge of the various construction processes gained through either prior experience, vocational or technical training.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test & physical
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general labor tasks on active construction sites
  • Use hand tools, equipment, and materials as instructed
  • Learn and follow jobsite safety rules and procedures
  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, climbing, and pulling
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by your mentor
