Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• 6 months or more related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to kneel, bend, and pull weeds by hand around bushes, trees, and flower beds.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery such as dump truck and backhoe.
• High level of customer service skills.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret written information.
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares graves and maintains cemetery grounds.
• Performs snow removal.
• Conducts landscaping tasks including trimming grass/weeds, pruning trees and shrubbery, and mowing grass.
• Operates a variety of equipment including mowers, string trimmers, Cushman, backhoe, dump truck, tractor, bed edger, hedge trimmer, and chainsaw.
• Positions casket-lowering device on grave and covers dirt pile and sod with artificial grass carpet.
• Erects tent/canopy and arranges folding chairs for burial services, as well as removes sod from gravesite.
• Prepares ground for burial by locating grave site and marking area to be excavated.
• Digs grave to specified depth, places vault, foundation grave marker, and sets grave marker in concrete.
• Opens and closes mausoleum vaults.
• Ensures all work adheres to safety policies and guidelines.
• Maintains good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, and worksites.
