Field Interviewers on the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) are responsible for frequently traveling to selected locations to recruit study participants and make in-person contact with selected respondents. They discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation. The role involves performing proper administration of computer-assisted interviews, collecting confidential information, and administering standardized questionnaires. Interviewers must independently manage administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings, and transmit data as scheduled. They are also responsible for the full and legal use and care of project-issued equipment, safeguarding participant incentives and project materials, and carefully tracking all participant incentives. Additional duties include submitting timely and accurate Time & Expense reports, virtually attending scheduled meetings, approaching selected households without prior appointment, working and driving after dark, attending weekly calls with a Field Supervisor, adhering to a schedule set by the Field Supervisor for respondent contact times, providing availability for field observations, and maintaining required system updates to project equipment and administrative tasks.
