About The Position

The Field Innovation Scientist at Bayer plays a pivotal role in advancing research and development within the Breeding Field Testing team. This position focuses on innovation, project management, and the implementation of advanced research technologies to enhance field-testing efficiency and effectiveness. The scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines while driving new technology development in precision breeding and product placement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or related discipline.
  • Up to 25% travel to evaluate innovation science projects or conduct business activities.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to obtain CDL as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or R&D roles; OR M.S. with five years' experience; OR Ph.D. with three years in Agriculture or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing projects or employees.
  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders through challenges and opportunities.
  • Results orientation with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong domain knowledge of crop production and field research practices.
  • Flexibility in an agile work environment.
  • Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization, and analysis.
  • Proven ability to help stakeholders understand and implement modern agricultural research concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate, develop, and implement advanced research workflow, imagery, and equipment concepts to drive efficiency in field testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate innovative ideas into designs, prototypes, and project implementations.
  • Partner with Legal and IP teams to ensure compliance with FTO and IP valuation processes.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, challenges, and next steps to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive new technology development related to precision breeding and product placement to accelerate genetic gain.
  • Build relationships with external partners to identify and implement innovation opportunities within Breeding.
  • Manage budgets and resources for project development and team support.
