About The Position

The Industrial Hygienist Apprentice supports environmental and hazardous materials monitoring, surveying, and sampling at residential, commercial, public, and industrial job sites. This entry-level role works under the guidance of experienced Industrial Hygienists to gain hands-on experience in field assessments, regulatory compliance, and technical reporting. The apprentice will assist with projects involving water and fire damage, demolition and renovation activities, indoor air quality concerns, and environmental complaints.

Requirements

  • Frequent local travel to job sites
  • Availability for occasional night and weekend work
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and access elevated or confined spaces
  • Ability to crawl in tight or restricted areas to access building components
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, sit, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including construction and industrial settings
  • Strong time and priority management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to perform effectively under high-stress and time-sensitive conditions
  • Strong conflict management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across the organization
  • Ability to follow company surveying methodologies while exercising professional judgment
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and comprehension) is required

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing environmental and hazardous materials assessments across various property types
  • Support sampling and monitoring related to water/fire damage, demolition, and environmental hazards
  • Participate in asbestos, lead, mold, and indoor air quality assessments
  • Collect samples and maintain chain-of-custody documentation
  • Assist in preparing clear and accurate reports
  • Communicate findings with team members and support client interactions
  • Follow all safety policies and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain professionalism and punctuality at job sites
