About The Position

In this dynamic Field Industrial Engineer Internship, you’ll support process improvement initiatives across our supply chain operations, working alongside seasoned engineers and operational leaders. You'll gain hands-on experience with data collection, time studies, labor standards, and layout optimization while helping drive productivity, safety, and efficiency across our distribution network. Your work will directly impact how Lowe’s delivers value to millions of customers — and you’ll do it all at a Fortune 50 company committed to your growth. The internship is based at our facility in Richmond, Virginia, where our distribution centers feature state-of-the-art equipment and a culture that prioritizes your wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Expected graduation dates of December 2026, May 2027, December 2027, or May 2028.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (specifically in Power Point, Excel and data analysis tools).

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, analytical thinking, organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma (basic competency in DMAIC concepts).
  • Basic project management skills and/or time studies methodologies experience.
  • Relevant internship and experience in industrial engineering or logistics.
  • Experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Supply Chain Industrial Engineering, operations, and other cross functional teams to focus on optimizing performance including safety, quality, productivity, accuracy, capacity and efficiency.
  • Engage in project management, creative problem solving, business analysis, facility layout, product flow, and change management.
  • Implement process improvements including Six Sigma Lean, Kaizen events, and rapid improvement events.
  • Identify, adapt, and integrate automated systems and processes in a retail supply chain setting.
  • Source and analyze data for various process improvement efforts and support recommendations to leadership.
  • Attend weekly meetings as part of the management team to discuss issues and opportunities.
