The Field Human Resources (HR) Generalist serves as a trusted advisor and first point of contact for managers and employees across assigned branch locations. This role provides hands-on support in employee relations, performance management, compliance, and policy administration. The Field HR Generalist balances business needs with employee advocacy, ensuring HR practices align with POOLCORP’s mission to build the best team to serve our customers.

  • Serves as the primary HR contact for managers and employees in assigned branches.
  • Investigates and resolves employee relations issues, ensuring fairness, consistency, and legal compliance.
  • Coaches managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace conduct.
  • Supports goal-setting, mid-year, and annual review processes.
  • Provides guidance on progressive discipline and performance improvement plans.
  • Partners with managers to identify and develop high-potential employees.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (EEOC, FMLA, ADA, wage & hour, etc.).
  • Interprets and applies company policies consistently; recommends updates as needed.
  • Maintains required HR records and prepare compliance reporting.
  • Delivers or coordinates HR-related training sessions for managers and employees.
  • Supports leadership development and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Maintains accurate employee data in Workday HRIS.
  • Assists with benefits open enrollment and employee communications.
  • Provides data and reports to support business decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
  • 2-4 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multi-location, service-oriented environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws, State of California employment laws, and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (Workday experience strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel to assigned branches (50-60% travel). Travel will mostly be day trips, with the occasional overnight trip.
  • A valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record – no more than 2 violations within 3 years.
