DLZ Corporation has an exciting Field Geologist / Civil Engineer / Earth Scientist for Subsurface Exploration opportunity in Bridgeville, PA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Engineering Required.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • CADD, gINT, GIS, and other related geologic, civil engineering, materials testing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug, background, and driving record checks.
  • Able to perform manual labor in inclement weather conditions and ability to travel and stay out-of-town as required.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with DLZ's Health and Safety Plan.

Nice To Haves

  • CADD, gINT, GIS, and other related geologic, civil engineering, materials testing experience is a plus.
  • Relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate field drilling activities with drill crews and complete work per provided instructions.
  • Perform reconnaissance of the job sites and layout borings.
  • Collect and classify soil and rock samples for a wide range of geotechnical projects, such as roadways, dams, airports, tunnels, buildings, and other civil engineering structures.
  • Transport and submit samples to the laboratory according to project-specified procedures.
  • Supervise and conduct on-site field monitoring such as packer permeability testing, soil resistivity tests, infiltration testing, and pressure meter testing
  • Supervise and conduct the installation and monitoring of field instrumentation inclinometers, piezometers, and digital sensors.
  • Coordinate and oversee utility clearance prior to drilling operations.
  • Maintain an accurate daily activity log to document the day's field activities.
  • Communicate field observations, condition changes, and daily production information to the Project Manager.
  • Assist Driller or Driller's Helper in performing drilling activities as needed.
  • Possess aptitude to act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
  • Perform all work safely and responsibly, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
