About The Position

To detect external corrosion, leakage, insulation damage and coating abnormalities of process pipelines and equipment within the FPC TX complex. Use sensory or auxiliary equipment to conduct inspections to ensure the safe operation of equipment.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience as a process operator or maintenance technician and a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Be able to obtain within 90 days of employment and hold a “TWIC” – Transportation Workers Identification Card for duration of employment.
  • One-year experience as process operator or maintenance technician.
  • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
  • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
  • Must participate in the following subject training and pass required certifications.
  • Completed the following practical training (upon assuming position): 1) VT testing technology training 2) Painting Construction QC training 3) Fixed equipment and pipeline external visual inspection practical training
  • Obtain Visual Testing (VT) Level 1 - NDT (within one year of assuming position)
  • Near-Vision Acuity: 1) The examination shall ensure natural or corrected near-distance acuity in at least one eye. 2) The applicant must be capable of reading a minimum of Jaeger Number 1 (or equivalent type and size letter) at a designated distance, but no less than 12 inches (30.5 cm) on a standard Jaeger test chart. 3) The ability to perceive an equivalent Ortho-Rater or similar test pattern is also acceptable. 4) This examination shall be administered annually.
  • Color Contrast Differentiation 1) The examination shall demonstrate the applicant’s ability to distinguish and differentiate contrast among colors or shades of gray used in the specified method or techniques. 2) This examination shall be administered upon initial certification and then at five-year intervals thereafter. 3) For contrast among colors, the Ishihara tables shall be used.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inspection schedules for process equipment, pipe racks, and pipelines within the unit, execute inspections, document abnormalities, provide reports and tracking on repair progress, and aid in the visual acceptance of new or replaced pipelines.
  • Provide reports daily and monthly tracking on repairs progress.
  • Develop the company's internal pipe rack and pipeline inspection schedule, execute inspections, document abnormalities, provide reports and tracking on repair progress, and assist in completing visual acceptance of new or replaced pipelines.
  • Monitor and oversee the repair progress of abnormal leakage cases of process equipment, pipe rack pipelines and common pipe rack pipelines, conduct monthly inspections and assist in scheduling removal plans.
  • Assist in the leak case review meeting which will report the inspection records of the past two years, the list of responsible persons in the responsible area, the difficult to inspect areas under the responsible area, and the list of cases scheduled for repair or that have not been closed.
  • Assist in stationary equipment component classification, pipeline PFD/PID data collection, documentation and on-site verification, etc.
  • Ensure that the coating documentation for pipelines, steel structures, storage tanks, and other equipment is properly maintained and updated. Oversee the documentation of coating data, conduct coating exterior inspections, record deterioration rates and remaining thickness measurements, and track these records accordingly.
  • Assist in the development of pipeline improvement, filing of basic data on pipe racks and pipelines, reporting the progress of pipeline installation projects, and coordinating and executing on-site tasks, etc.
  • Conduct procedure training and audits.
  • Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements.
  • Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
  • Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
